Using Video to Market Your Photography
Photographers are a blessed lot. We have at our disposal a myriad of marketing tools to let the world know about our work. Immediately Facebook comes to mind, with its huge network, video streaming capability and community feedback. We also have our trusty blog which will showcase our work long after the buzz has died down on our Facebook walls. Having a mailing list is also useful for addressing an audience who is interested in what you are doing.
But one tool stands out as being one of the most effective. Video is a powerful tool that photographers can utilise for marketing purposes. Especially if you are a wedding photographer. In an industry that is saturated with photographers, you need to stand out. Having a video slideshow that quickly summarises a wedding coverage in a few minutes is very useful for marketing to an audience with a short attention span
We can put up video slideshows of new photos on our blogs, and announce them to our audience via Facebook and Twitter.
My video slideshows are very basic, without any fancy zooming/panning effects or over-the-top transitions, simply because I want to let viewers appreciate the photos, not the effects. This is also the same approach that I use when creating wedding albums.
Here are some of my more recent slideshows, hosted on Vimeo, preferred for its better video quality. For more of my wedding photography work (and slideshows), please visit the official website of Emotion In Pictures.
